Sarah Cetlin Birnbaum,

LCSW

As a therapist, I've been described as down to earth, intuitive, and thoughtfully direct. You will find me to be authentic and compassionate. In my sessions, I create a warm and safe space to hold the messy stuff, honor your resiliency, and celebrate your joys.

Why I am a psychotherapist -

My passion for healing and the mind-body connection began during my time teaching yoga in NYC. I was burnt out from the grind (my day job was in production at a successful advertising agency) and my community was burnt out too. It was when I began my yoga teacher training that I saw the possibility of a different way of living. As I felt the relief my students experienced from connecting with their internal experience, I knew wanted to work with people on their path towards wholeness.  I am a therapist because I know that we all have the capacity to thrive.

My experience -

I'm a New York City native who moved to Salt Lake City in search of a slower pace of life.  I began therapeutic work at a holistic healing and career counseling center for homeless youth in New York City. As I wanted to bring my holistic approach to the institutional setting, I transitioned to Mount Sinai Hospital helping patients and their families manage mental health complexities related to chronic health issues. While in NYC, I also had a private clinical practice and taught yoga for mental wellness. Prior to counseling clients privately here in Salt Lake City, I worked with  young adults, adolescents, and their families at an adventure wilderness therapy program and at a residential treatment program.

My licensure -

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Utah. I am clinically trained in EMDR. I am a 200 hour certified yoga teacher. I hold a Bachelors degree from The University of Connecticut and a  Masters in Social Work from New York University.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
